Not all scans are the same, and there is a difference in purpose between a pre-scan, in-process scan and post-scan. In-Process scans are performed after the vehicle has been assembled, to clear “lost communication” diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) that resulted from the repair process, prior to calibrations, test drives and post-repair scans. Mike talks through some of the scenarios in which this would be necessary, and how to explain the steps involved.
