Many vehicle manufacturers have shop certification or recognition programs. Each has its own criteria, but oftentimes the collision repair center has had to invest in and obtain specific training and equipment requirements to ensure they have the necessary resources to fix your vehicle. Its important to note that the dealership you purchased your vehicle from may have a collision center, but simply being a franchised dealership does not mean they are automatically a part of the OEM certified network; and independent repair facilities actually make up the majority of OEM certified collision centers in the U.S. In this video Mike and Danny talk about some of the expectations an automaker may have of the repair centers within their network, and why the proper training, equipment and procedures have such an impact on repair quality.
