In this video, Gary and Andy discuss why paint thickness measurements are becoming increasingly important in collision repair. They explain how mil gauges help identify prior repairs, maintain OEM paint specifications, and ensure that ADAS components, such as radar sensors, function properly after refinishing. They also discuss different types of gauges for steel, aluminum, and plastic panels, as well as why incorporating paint-thickness checks into the blueprinting process help to identify important factors early in the repair process. These videos were filmed at the I-CAR Training Center in Appleton, WI.
