Fred Iantorno of Verifacts offers insight into how vehicles are already starting to get connected. From communicating with the infrastructure and traffic information to engaging with other vehicles, technology is rapidly advancing. Connected cars will call first notice of loss, self diagnose as well as self-estimate. Imagine a day when the vehicle will not only call for a tow but pre-order parts and also arrange transportation home for the driver.
Connected vehicles will require connected body shops, and it’s happening faster than you’d think. Vehicle connected tools, equipment, technicians, and workstations are already in development and production. Augmented reality is the wave of the future. Diagnostics and repair procedures will come from the vehicle itself.
